German Models
Due to the popular demand of our customers, we will be offering German models of Blaupunkt and Becker equipment. Most will be on a special order basis that will require a full deposit before
we order the item. However, some items will be stocked due to the unique nature of the item, or in the case of the Becker radios, because the US models have not been released for many months.
One thing to remember about the German radios are that they tune AM and FM stations differently than US models. The FM band, however, is not adversely affected by the difference. In the US, we step
between stations in .2MHz increments. Stations can be 100.1MHz, 100.3MHz, etc. In Germany, they step by .1MHz increments. Their stations would be 100.1MHz, 100.2MHz, 100.3MHz, etc. This poses no
problem in the US as the tuner will still hit all of our frequencies. AM is the problem. In the US we step in 10kHz increments, but in Germany, they step by 9kHz. The US stations are all multiples of
10 numbers, ie. 540kHz, 1230kHz, etc. The German models will step from 530kHz to 539kHz, and then to 548kHz, etc. Very few of the US stations would fall into this setup. Only a station that happened
to fall on the tenth step (10 x 9kHz = 90kHz) from the lowest station ending in zero, would be tuned in.
When you see the German flag , the item is from Germany. Please call or e-mail for information about ordering
the item, and whether there are any problems with use in the US.
